Wiggam & Geer is proud to announce it is joining forces with the Law Offices of Alyssa Maloof Whatley. The move further strengthens Wiggam & Geer’s position as a premiere tax and bankruptcy practice in Atlanta, and provides clients with additional exceptional legal service. The new arrangement solidifies years of cooperation on legal matters and referring clients to one another.
Whatley’s practice is focused on tax law and bankruptcy. She has specialized in representing individuals, self-employed individuals, and small to medium-sized businesses in both federal and state tax matters as well as bankruptcy and debt negotiation and defense.
Before founding her own firm, Whatley practiced as a tax litigator and also as a Chapter 13 courtroom attorney. She graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law. During her third year of law school, she interned with U.S. Bankruptcy Judge the Honorable Margaret A. Murphy. In addition to Georgia, Whatley is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Georgia and U.S. Tax Court.
Whatley was the former president of the Metro Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney Group and the 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. She is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Tax and Bankruptcy sections as well as the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. She is a sought-after speaker on tax and bankruptcy issues in Georgia and nationally.
The move will allow Whatley’s clients a broader array of tax and bankruptcy services. “I am pleased to now be able to offer Wiggam & Geer’s expertise alongside my own,” she said.
“Alyssa’s experience and knowledge base complement our current offerings and will be an added advantage in serving our clients,” said Jason Wiggam, founding partner of Wiggam & Geer. “We are excited about the energy she will bring to the office and look forward to partnering with her. We have always worked well with Alyssa, and have great respect for her and her accomplishments.”
Wiggam & Geer is thrilled to expand its experienced team of tax law and bankruptcy attorneys through the new relationship with Whatley. Both firms emphasize an honest and personal approach to legal representation, along with technical expertise and aggressive, creative strategies. Together they will continue to provide the best outcomes for each client’s individual situation.
